About the PositionJob Title: Public Health Nurse Consultant 1 Profession: Public Health Nursing Consultant Specialty: Health Care Duration: 54 Shift: Regular Shift Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Experience: Minimum years of clinical experience in Neonatology/NICU required. Medical record abstraction experience preferred. License: Must be a state resident. Certifications: N/A Must-Have: Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, REDCap, and SharePoint preferred. Knowledge/clinical experience with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome preferred. Description: The Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome Surveillance Program is seeking a contract Public Health Nurse Consultant 1. This is a full-time hybrid position that includes remote work and required in-office days (1-2 times per month). Travel to the Client is non-reimbursable. Typical working hours are Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, totaling 37.5 hours per week. The Public Health Nursing Consultant 1 will serve as a subject matter expert on Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome. The role mainly focuses on reviewing and abstracting medical records. Job duties will include: Maintaining status of all infant medical record requests in REDCap. Requesting, reviewing, and collating infant and maternal medical records from facilities using a developed algorithm. Reviewing and abstracting assigned electronic medical records. Conducting case verification on all records received for NAS diagnoses. Performing data entry into REDCap for abstracted medical records. Maintaining HIPAA compliance at all times. Submitting service referrals to appropriate social services when indicated. Working closely with the NAS Surveillance Team to identify issues and ensure processes are complete and accurate. Maintaining partnerships with medical records office staff and providing feedback on process improvements. Working independently, responsibly, and efficiently, while problem-solving and communicating needs. Completing abstraction assignments on time with minimal supervision. Attending weekly meetings with the relevant team. Maintaining ongoing education on developments in patient care, data management, birth defects, healthy pregnancy, and health equity. Working closely with program epidemiologists to ensure accuracy of data collection. Partnering with other relevant programs on special projects and strategic planning.
