Job Details
- Assignment Length: 17 weeks (May 11, 2026 – September 7, 2026)
- Role: Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) – Observation Unit / Acute Care / Telemetry capable
- Setting: Acute Care – 2C Observation Unit (22 beds)
- Shifts: 12-hour days
- Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 – $1,890
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Rotates with permanent staff
- Dress Code: Caribbean Blue or White scrubs
- Charting: MEDITECH (experience preferred)
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (unrestricted) — Registered Nurse in good standing
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Minimum 1 year recent Med/Surg experience; Observation Unit or acute care experience preferred
- Telemetry experience and ability to read EKGs required
- Ability to perform basic lab draws / phlebotomy independently
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-turnover environment (up to 16 discharges/admissions per day)
- Willingness to float to Med/Surg units as needed
- Must adhere to a strict 75-mile radius rule
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients in a 22-bed Observation Unit (medical-surgical, telemetry)
- Manage patient ratios typically 1:5 or 1:6
- Administer and titrate Heparin drips and other IV therapies as required
- Perform EKGs, interpret rhythm strips, and draw labs independently
- Monitor telemetry via central monitoring; escalate changes per protocol
- Support high patient turnover with efficient admissions, discharges, and transfers
- Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, and multidisciplinary team members
- Complete a unit-specific 3-shift orientation and follow hospital policies
