Position Type: Substitutes/Substitute Nurse Date Posted: 5/7/2026 Location: Watertown-Mayer District Wide Substitute School Nurse Location: Watertown-Mayer Public Schools (Multiple Buildings) Reports To: District School Nurse Job Summary The Substitute School Nurse provides professional health care services to students when the regular District Nurse or health office staff is absent. This role involves direct clinical care, emergency response, and the management of student health records to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment. Key Responsibilities Direct Care: Provide direct health care and first aid to students in the High School, Middle School, or Elementary buildings as assigned. Medication Administration: Safely administer prescribed medications and treatments to students according to district policy and healthcare provider orders. Health Plan Implementation: Follow and implement established individual health plans (IHPs) and emergency care plans for students with chronic conditions (e.g., allergies, diabetes, seizures). Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential health records, including documenting office visits, treatments provided, and communications with parents/guardians. Emergency Response: Act as the first responder for medical emergencies on school grounds during the shift. Indirect Care: Support health office staff in other buildings as needed to ensure district-wide coverage and student safety. Qualifications & Requirements Preferred Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the State of Minnesota. Non-licensed candidates will be considered. Skills: Strong clinical assessment skills, ability to work independently, and excellent communication skills with students, staff, and parents. Compliance: Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with FERPA regulations. Salary & Benefits Salary: $26.66/hour This is a temporary position and is not eligible for district benefits.
