Senior Personal Banker
Delivers an exceptional client service experience by servicing clients with a full range of banking products and services. Executes administrative and operational activities related to client accounts, money movement, reporting, and inquiry resolution across in-person, phone, and email channels.
Ensures adherence to banking guidelines, procedures, and policies, escalating issues as needed. Supports fellow Personal Bankers and contributes to continuous improvement of Wealth Management processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Understands the business model and engages appropriate business unit subject matter experts to explore potential opportunities with the client. Provides maintenance and holistic advice on assigned relationships by identifying client needs.
- Executes and/or submits client account servicing activities within appropriate time frames, including but not limited to processing wires and fund transfers, opening and closing accounts, maintaining accurate and complete account records, imaging documents, and researching client issues.
- Proactively communicates with Relationship Management and National Client Support Services teams, as appropriate, to obtain necessary information to properly execute the requested activity.
- Handles paying and receiving activities, including cash transactions and daily balancing activities. Fully understands and adheres to all Wealth Management Lobby Banking Operations policies and procedures, as documented in internal database.
- Assists with maintenance and servicing of safe deposit boxes in offices where available.
- Demonstrates expertise in setting up all types of client accounts and services. Reviews documentation for completeness and follows through to avoid documentation deficiencies relating to deposit accounts.
- Follows Northern Trust and Wealth Management Risk Management and Compliance guidelines and procedures, escalating any issues and/or concerns to management.
- Maintains strong knowledge of the various business applications critical to client and account servicing, including online tools, and seeks to expand knowledge of the latest enhancements to Northern Trust partner and client technology and/or systems to maintain the highest standards of service.
- Keeps informed of all new products and services to respond to client questions and to assist in recommending services, resulting in expansion of the overall client relationship.
- Monitors banking reports and provides assistance with banking audits as directed by the Team Leader/Manager.
- Serves as a mentor to fellow Personal Bankers, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Shares deposit-area expertise and supports cross-training as designated by the Team Leader/Manager.
- Knowledge of banking operations, products, and services (acquired through related work experience), preferred.
- Knowledge of federal regulations and banking guidelines (acquired through related work experience or formal training).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills to identify, research, and/or resolve requests and manage conflicting priorities and workflow.
- Ability to think critically and work well independently and as part of a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- 3-5 years of related experience.
This is an office-based position and for the effective performance of this role, the duties and responsibilities must be carried out onsite.
Salary Range:
$64,170 - 102,810 USD
Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
