Description

The City of Cass Lake is seeking a Full Time Public Works Worker.

Purpose Statement: Performs manual and routine maintenance work; and performs related duties as required.

Relationships:
Works under the general and technical supervision of the Public Works Supervisor.
Exercises no supervisory authority

Essential Functions: (The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in this class. Duties may vary somewhat from position to position within a class.)
Performs manual labor including mowing, trimming loading, digging, brushing, raking, snow shoveling and etc.
Delivering of supplies and materials.
Assists with repair and maintenance of City buildings and grounds, vehicles, equipment and tools.

Other Functions:
Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
Considerable Knowledge Of:
Types and uses of vehicles, equipment and tools used in the workplace;
Building and grounds maintenance and repair;
Occupational hazards involved and knowledge of safety precautions;
Safe operations of motor vehicles and equipment.

Considerable Ability To:
Perform hard manual labor, including manual excavating/digging;
Stand, walk, sit or operate a vehicle for extended periods of time;
Bend, crouch, stoop, stretch or crawl for extended periods of time;
Use of both large and fine motor skills to manipulate objects requiring manual dexterity, to work at heights over 10 feet and to be able to lift equipment and supplies weighing up to 60 pounds;
Operate a telephone and radio for work calls
Work with and around irritants, fumes and hazardous chemicals.

Working Ability To:
Bend, crouch, stoop, sit, stretch or crawl;
Follow written and oral instructions;
Work at assigned tasks without constant supervision;
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and other employees and to deal with the public in a pleasant, courteous and tactful manner.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess a valid Minnesota Class D driver's license

Desirable Qualifications:
Possession of Minnesota Class B driver's license. Previous maintenance experience.
