Position Summary:
In preparation for ENMU’s first ever comprehensive campaign the Gift Officer will play a pivotal role helping develop a pipeline of annual, major and planned giving constituents. Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement and Public Relations and working closely with the Executive Director of the ENMU Foundation, the Gift Officer will identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward, leadership annual, major and planned gifts. This position will also work collaboratively with the Annual Giving and Engagement Director to help grow, retain and upgrade leadership annual constituents as part of One Roo for ENMU, Eastern’s university-wide annual giving program.
The Gift Officer will develop personalized engagement and solicitation strategies in collaboration with Advancement leadership, meeting activity metrics for constituent meetings, and documenting contact and stage development of relationships and proposals in the donor database.
The Gift Officer will play a significant role helping to build a pipeline of major, planned and principal gift constituents and work collaboratively to increase engagement, and will manage a portfolio of 80-120 constituents located throughout the state of New Mexico and the nation. With an emphasis on relationship building, the Gift Officer will work to identify and assess constituent’s capacity and affinity to become engaged with ENMU through our philanthropic programs and/or our engagement programs. Additionally, this position will be an active partner across our advancement team, playing a critical role helping to plan and facilitate high-impact stewardship, cultivation and all-call events.
Extensive travel and some evening/weekend work will be required.
Requirements
Duties and Responsibilities:
Identifies, qualifies, cultivates, and solicits alumni, parents, and friends capable of making annual, major or planned gifts.
Meet a set number of annual fundraising and activity metrics, including but not limited to qualifications, visits and solicitations as well as overall dollars solicited and closed.
Assist, where needed, in regional events, homecoming, and other important university-wide special events focused on deepening relationships with ENMU alumni, donors and friends.
Collaborate with colleagues in Advancement and in Academic and Athletic Units to ensure effective, efficient, and coordinated fundraising and engagement strategies to align constituent’s interests with various priorities across campus.
Utilizes Ellucian database to track and record moves, asks, and outcomes, including contact reports, proposals, and gift commitments.
Regular and predictable attendance required
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business, liberal arts, communications, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in advancement, demonstrating a successful track record relationship building between constituents and institutions.
Must have a valid and current Driver’s License
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Track record qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, closing and stewarding annual and major gifts.
Strategic thinker with an ability to balance the art of long-term relationship building with the science of meeting and exceeding dynamic activity metrics and fundraising goals.
Ability to inspireand generate excitement, shared purpose, and action; excellent written and interpersonal communication; high level of emotional IQ and listening skills.
Positive and creative manner of approaching challenges; strong analytical skills and professional judgment; personal comportment consistent with ENMU’s core values
A strong commitment to and connection with our vision and mission at ENMU.
Willing to travel and work evenings, as needed.
