Pharmacist

Location: Ocala, FL

Reports To: Pharmacist in Charge

Position Summary

Fenix Staffing is seeking a licensed and experienced Staff Pharmacist to join a growing pharmacy team in Ocala, Florida. The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and compliant dispensing of medications while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and regulatory compliance. This role involves prescription verification, patient consultation, quality assurance, supervision of pharmacy personnel, and participation in continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities

Pharmacy Operations

• Receive and process new prescription orders from authorized prescribers.
• Review and interpret clinical information to ensure appropriate medication therapy.
• Perform final verification and inspection of prescription orders prior to dispensing.
• Conduct Drug Utilization Reviews (DUR) for all prescriptions.
• Consult with patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers regarding medications and therapy.
• Transfer prescriptions to and from other pharmacies as permitted by law.
• Ensure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy regulations.

Prescription Verification & Quality Assurance

• Verify prescription accuracy and completeness.
• Review patient prescription records and medication histories.
• Confirm calculations for compounded medications.
• Ensure all prescriptions meet quality and safety standards before dispensing or shipping.
• Participate in the pharmacy’s Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program.

Controlled Substance Management

• Maintain secure control of controlled substances.
• Review and verify controlled medication shipments received from wholesalers.
• Monitor and document controlled substance inventory and storage logs.
• Ensure compliance with DEA and state regulations.

Pharmacy Team Leadership

• Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns.
• Maintain accountability for delegated tasks performed under pharmacist supervision.
• Provide training, guidance, and oversight to pharmacy personnel.
• Foster a professional, safe, and compliant work environment.

Compounding & Laboratory Oversight

• Perform and verify pharmaceutical calculations.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews of compounded medications.
• Review and approve compounded formulations.
• Verify incoming chemicals for quality, potency, and accuracy.
• Review and release tested compounds from quarantine when appropriate.

Qualifications

Required

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy.
• Active and unrestricted Florida Pharmacist License.
• Minimum of two (2) years of retail or community pharmacy experience.
• Strong knowledge of pharmacy regulations, medication therapy, and patient counseling.
• Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure in additional jurisdictions as required.

Preferred

• Experience with compounding pharmacy operations.
• Multi-state pharmacy licensure.
• Experience supervising pharmacy technicians and interns.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to perform duties requiring manual dexterity and visual accuracy.
