Description
BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital in is seeking an experienced Patient Care Coordinator to join our state-of-the-art emergency and specialty hospital.As a Patient Care Coordinator, you will a ct as a liaison between the front and back of the hospital by facilitating client/patient flow between the waiting room, exam rooms, CSR staff , and clinical staff, triaging medical phone calls, coordinating client/doctor communication. Performing visit follow-up calls, scheduling and handling some discharges.
Qualifications:
Must have 2 years of veterinary technician experience or be a LVT
Shift: Sunday - Wednesday (9 hour shifts)
As the Patient Care Coordina tor, you will:
- Assist across services during primary duty downtime as directed by supervisor/manager.
- Aids in the development of others
- Remains current on RECOVER CPR guidelines (Basic Life Support).
- Check ER doctor message bin and triage messages for doctors; facilitate solutions for clients
- Supports clinician and client throughout euthanasia process.
- Approaches and handles patients according to safety protocols and core values. Compassionately, calmly, and gently approaches and handles patients.
- Aids in setting and driving a culture of patient safety and utilizes the Patient Safety Event Reporting accordingly.
- Appropriately restrain feline and canine patients in accordance with AVMA policies and procedures
- Demonstrate proper use of hospital PPE; adhere to safety committee or hospital standards including Hazardous Drug Handling.
- Ability to use radiology software and assist with radiography using proper technique and PPE. Understands the concept of ALARA and decreasing staff and patient exposure.
- Acts as a liaison to clients, collaborating with the medical team, frequently keeping them informed. Connects clients with other associates to facilitate answers to questions.
- Coordinate information and care requirements for the pet; resolving issues that could affect smooth care progression; fostering team support for the pets' care and treatment.
- Performs client callbacks.
- Call previous day's ER clients for follow-up feedback
- Receive and address patient care telephone calls from the general public
- Facilitate client visits and address questions, concerns, etc.
- Provide pDVM updates on patients during hospital stay as directed.
- Documenting conversations with specialists and clients in the medical record; interacting with other services to expedite scheduling, procedures, and consults.
- Understanding basic pharmacology of commonly used oral medications, including handling, labelling and dispensing.
- Maintains an advanced working knowledge of the pDVM portal.
- Maintains an advanced working knowledge of insurance policies and procedures.
- Maintains an advanced working knowledge of Instinct OP, IP, and Tx functions, including how to read and interpret (where available)
- Maintains the ability to complete, audit and review patient visit lists and invoices.
- Ability to understand patient treatment plans (for their skill set and knowledge) and can present to clients in a clear manner.
- Maintains a working knowledge of veterinary medical terms, abbreviations, procedures and conditions and can converse with other veterinary professionals and clients appropriately.
- Maintains a working knowledge of common conditions, diseases, and pharmacology equivalent to those expected of a Veterinary Technician Level II in their assigned department or Core items if not assigned to one department.
- Facilitate discharge appointments for al services. Ensure comfortable and timely visits and discharges.
- Monitor the waiting room and assist front desk with wait time and patient status updates.
