Ordinance Officer Part-Time/Seasonal Grosse Ile Township The Township of Grosse Ile located in Wayne County, Michigan is soliciting resumes until May 18, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. for the position of part-time ordinance officer. This position is responsible for the fair and equitable enforcement of all Township codes, ordinances and regulations. Part-time ordinance personnel will perform the duties of the position by performing field inspections and investigating alleged violations and complaints through the collection of data, initiating corrective actions, maintaining records, preparing reports, issuing citations, and appearing in court as required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Performs site inspections, including all subsequent follow-up visits to ensure compliance. Enters field notes and observations in BS+A ordinance tracking software. Works with office staff to draft letters and notices identifying violations and steps for compliance. Prepares for, works with the Townships prosecuting attorney and attends court (District and Circuit) as required. Provides customer service to constituents over the phone, by email, and in the field. Performs other duties as required. WORK SCHEDULE This is a part-time position that will not exceed 800 hours per year. Workload may be distributed unevenly throughout the year (greater percentage of hours during the spring and summer months). No week during the year will exceed 28 hours of employment. In addition, a variable weekly schedule may be requested by the Township to include afternoons and some weekend hours to ensure ordinance enforcement coverage is opposite existing staff. REQUIREMENTS A high school diploma, valid drivers license, and the ability to pass a drug screen and physical are required for employment. Rate: $18/hour. Understanding of municipal code, ordinances, and zoning is required. Previous experience in law or ordinance enforcement is desirable but not required.
