About Us
Dermatology Specialists of West Georgia is a physician-owned, multi-location dermatology group serving Carrollton, Newnan, and Peachtree City. We operate a full-service dermatopathology laboratory and a busy Mohs micrographic surgery program, providing medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology care across west Georgia and the south Atlanta metro.
Our dermatopathology lab is based in Peachtree City and serves all three of our practices. The lab is equipped with Sakura tissue processing equipment, a Leica BOND system for immunohistochemistry, and is fully integrated with ModMed (Modernizing Medicine).
Position Summary
We are hiring a skilled, detail-oriented Histology Technician to join our dermatopathology lab. This role is central to our diagnostic quality — delivering accurate, high-quality tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining for routine dermpath cases, with occasional support for Mohs frozen sections.
The ideal candidate is dependable, precise, and thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment where accuracy matters.
What You'll Do
- Prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination, including fixation, processing, embedding, sectioning, and H&E staining

- Produce high-quality slides consistently, with a sharp eye for accuracy and detail
- Label, track, and document specimens to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance
- Maintain proper specimen handling and chain-of-custody procedures
- Work closely with our dermatopathologist on case preparation and troubleshooting
- Support Mohs frozen section workflow as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, audit-ready lab
- Follow OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, and infection control standards at all times
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and QC checks on Sakura and Leica BOND systems
- Help manage lab inventory and supply ordering
- Communicate clearly and professionally with providers, clinical staff, and leadership
What You Bring
- Certified Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) preferred
- 1–3+ years of histology experience preferred, with a focus on dermatopathology
- Mohs frozen section experience is a plus but not required
- Strong working knowledge of histologic techniques, stains, IHC, and lab safety standards
- Exceptional attention to detail and excellent manual dexterity
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately under time-sensitive conditions
- Comfort learning and working within modern lab technology (ModMed EHR, automated IHC, digital workflows)
Why This Role
- Join an established, well-equipped dermatopathology lab with room to grow
- Work with Sakura processing equipment and a Leica BOND IHC platform
- Support a growing dermatopathology service line across three locations
- Join a physician-led practice that invests in its people, technology, and clinical quality
- Competitive compensation, health benefits, 401(k) with employer contributions, and paid time off
What Success Looks Like
