Description
OverviewIsland Country Club - Club Overview
Located on scenic Marco Island, Florida, Island Country Club is a private, member-owned club recognized for its rich history, championship golf, and strong sense of community. The club features an 18-hole, par-72 golf course surrounded by lush tropical landscaping and pristine waterways, offering a peaceful yet challenging experience for players of all skill levels.
Island Country Club proudly carries a storied legacy, having had two former club professionals win Major Championships.
- Tony Lema, affectionately known as "Champagne Tony," was another notable figure in Island CC's history. Lema captured the 1964 Open Championship and left a lasting impression on the game with both his flair and sportsmanship. He served as the club's first professional at Island CC during his storied career.
- Gene Sarazen, a seven-time major champion and one of only six players to complete the career Grand Slam, served as the club's professional from 1981 until his passing in 1999. His charisma, legacy, and influence helped solidify the Island Country Club's reputation as a respected golf destination in Southwest Florida. This prestigious history gives the Island Country Club a rare distinction and a deep connection to the heritage of professional golf.
The Island Country Club is deeply committed to continuous improvement and long-term excellence. In recent years, the club has completed an impressive $25 million clubhouse renovation, elevating its facilities to match the high standards of its membership. This investment reflects a forward-thinking approach focused on enhancing the member experience, from upgraded dining and social spaces to modern locker rooms and amenities. Looking ahead, the club has already begun strategic planning for its 2030 Golf Course Master Plan, which will include a comprehensive renovation of the course. This project underscores ICC's dedication to preserving and enhancing the quality of its golf experience for generations to come.
A Stepping Stone for Future Leaders
Today, Island Country Club continues to evolve as a top-tier private club, blending tradition with forward-thinking leadership. This role represents an ideal opportunity for a driven PGA professional who is preparing for their final step before becoming a Director of Golf or Head Professional at their own club.
The incoming Head Golf Professional will have the chance to refine one or two key pieces of their resume-whether it's gaining experience in budgeting, capital improvement planning, forecasting, or participating in committee meetings-all within a supportive, mentorship-rich environment under the guidance of the Director of Golf.
With a strong culture of PGA professionalism, dedicated membership, and excellent facilities, Island Country Club is the perfect place for a passionate leader to grow, contribute, and prepare for their next chapter.
