OverviewMarietta Country Club Overview
Founded in 1915, Marietta Country Club is a member-owned club in Kennesaw, Georgia, located 28 miles from downtown Atlanta. The Club features 27 spectacular holes of Robert Cupp-designed golf, offering challenging risks and rewards for golfers of all skill levels. Set on historic Civil War era farmland, the Club's "three nines" yield vistas of Kennesaw Mountain, beautiful lakes, ponds, and streams.
The Tennis facility includes 8 immaculately maintained Hydro Court clay courts and 4 all-weather Laykold hard courts. The Club has a Fitness facility including a weight room, locker rooms, and a group fitness room. The Pool complex includes the pool, pool pavilion, and snack bar. The Clubhouse consists of the administrative offices, kitchen, member dining areas, lounge, and banquet facilities.
Position Summary
The Head Golf Professional serves as the leader and ambassador of the golf operation at Marietta Country Club. Reporting to the Director of Golf. This role delivers an exceptional private club experience rooted in hospitality, professionalism, member engagement, and operational excellence. This position is responsible for overseeing all facets of golf operations including member services, tournament programming, instruction, merchandising, staff leadership, and financial oversight while fostering a culture that reflects the Club's standards, traditions, and commitment to excellence. The role demands an experienced PGA Professional who is highly visible, relationship-driven, operationally strong, and passionate about creating memorable golf experiences for members and guests alike.
Experience Required
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum of 4+ years of progressive leadership experience within a private club, luxury golf resort, or high-end golf environment
- Proven success leading golf operations, tournament programming, member engagement initiatives, and professional staff development
- Strong knowledge of tournament administration, instructional programming, merchandising, pace-of-play management, and member services
- Experience utilizing golf technology platforms including tee sheet management systems, handicap systems, tournament software, POS systems, and golf analytics tools
- Demonstrated ability to lead in a hospitality-focused environment with a strong emphasis on personalized service and member satisfaction
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, payroll management, and retail inventory controls
- Ability to build strong relationships with members, guests, vendors, and team members across all departments
- Class A PGA Professional in good standing required
- Bachelor's degree in business, Hospitality, Sports Management, or related field preferred
Essential Responsibilities
Golf Operations & Member Experience
- Direct and oversee all daily golf operations including the golf shop, practice facilities, cart operations, and outside services
- Ensure an elevated, seamless, and consistent member experience across all golf-related touchpoints
- Maintain high standards of service, presentation, professionalism, and operational efficiency throughout the golf operation
- Create a welcoming and engaging environment for members, guests, and tournament participants
- Maintain a strong daily presence throughout the operation to foster visibility, accessibility, and relationship-building with membership
- Address member feedback, concerns, and service opportunities promptly, professionally, and effectively
- Collaborate closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and club leadership to ensure alignment between course conditions and member expectations
- Monitor pace of play, tee sheet optimization, and overall operational flow to maximize the member experience
Programming, Instruction & Member Engagement
- Develop, organize, and execute an annual calendar of tournaments, club championships, member events, and golf programming
- Create innovative and engaging golf experiences designed to strengthen member participation and club connection
- Lead member golf trips, social golf events, and special programming initiatives
- Provide high-level golf instruction, coaching, and club fitting services tailored to the individual needs of members and guests
- Support and grow junior golf, ladies' golf, and player development programs
- Promote participation in golf activities while fostering an inclusive and welcoming culture for golfers of all skill levels
Merchandising & Retail Operations
- Assist in all golf shop merchandising, retail presentation, purchasing, inventory management, and vendor partnerships. Curate a retail environment that aligns with the Club's brand identity.
- Analyze retail performance and trends to optimize product selection, profitability, and member satisfaction
- Ensure accurate inventory controls, receiving procedures, pricing strategies, and monthly reporting
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and negotiate favorable terms and product offerings
Financial & Administrative Oversight
- Oversee daily administrative functions including billing, reporting, scheduling, payroll coordination, and operational documentation
- Assist in the preparation and management of annual budgets, forecasts, and capital planning initiatives
- Monitor financial performance and operational metrics to support long-term sustainability and profitability
- Ensure proper controls are in place for inventory management, purchasing, and expense oversight
- Maintain compliance with PGA standards, club policies, safety procedures, and best operational practices
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership and committee meetings as needed

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the golf operation and golf course
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions
- Ability to lift, move, and transport golf merchandise, equipment, and tournament materials up to 40 pounds
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, tournaments, and club events
Work Environment
This position operates within a dynamic private club environment requiring professionalism, visibility, adaptability, and a strong commitment to member service excellence. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required based on club programming and seasonal operations.
