Description
OverviewThe General Manager reports directly to the VP of Operations and the Board of Directors for the Community Association. The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the operations of the golf club, monitoring and adjusting financial performance, providing guidance to the board on governance matters and leading the management team(s) to deliver a superior guest experience. Qualified candidates will thrive in a hospitality environment and be highly focused on providing superior service for members and guests.
Experience Required
- Bachelor's Degree preferred; 5-10 years' experience and/or the equivalent in experience and training
- Experience in multi-faceted food and beverage operations.
- Experience interacting and managing relationships with Member and Client Boards.
- Certified Club Manager, Class A PGA Member or similar qualification is preferred.
- CAM License preferred but not required
- Possesses strong leadership, hospitality and human relations skills.
- Presents a professional appearance and demeanor in all exchanges.
- Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have excellent organizational and time management skills, along with the ability to coordinate details and prioritize the work on a daily and weekly basis.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop, manage and implement long term/strategic, capital and business plans, operating reports and general policies and procedures.
- Lead the timely development of accurate annual budgets for direct report departments and coordinate the comprehensive annual business plan with all departments.
- Prepare and monitor monthly and quarterly financial reports/statements, revenue goals, expenses, and business reports and forecasts.
- Monitor business volume forecasts in each department and advise changes to plans or programs as needed.
- Lead regular department head meetings and financial review meetings to ensure coordination, communication, collaboration and accountability.
- Maintain close contact with members to ensure satisfaction expectations are exceeded and oversee resolution of member, guest and employee feedback.
- Ensure high standards through proper operating procedures and oversee management of food and beverage operations for a la carte, events and banquets.
- Oversee execution of a strategic membership development program and support marketing efforts to promote the facility's services.
- Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures and leverage Troon vendor relationships and national accounts.
- Oversee the care and maintenance of physical assets and facilities and coordinate property-wide maintenance efforts.
- Reinforce training programs including member service, food and beverage service, train-the-trainer, safety and related programs.
- Monitor safe-work practices, coordinate safety education programs and ensure compliance in all departments.
- Develop and maintain a positive management philosophy to guide personnel toward optimal results, morale and guest satisfaction.
- Update and oversee implementation of company policies and procedures for direct report departments.
- Interview, hire, train, assign, direct, evaluate, reward and discipline associates; address complaints and resolve problems.
- Ensure effective orientation and ongoing documented training for new associates.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
