- Full Time System Planner
Description
Under the supervision of the Chief of Planning & Development, work activities in this position primarily involve the application of regional planning principles to the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of park facilities and to the management of natural resources. Conduct detailed research and analysis pertaining to local and regional demographic, socioeconomic, and recreation trends and projections.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and maintain an inventory of local and regional planning data and perform analysis on projects with potential impact to the Metroparks system.
Facilitate public outreach and engagement activities related to the development of park master plans and other Department initiatives.
Plan and design development of land and water areas for parks, trails, and water recreation.
Develop, interpret, and implement park master plans and other functional planning initiatives.
Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to create maps, graphics, and other tools for performing spatial analysis.
Inventory, analyze, and prepare written reports and graphic representation of natural and man-made site conditions and park elements. Develop and implement public survey methodologies and analyze results.
Prepare documentation for grants and other funding sources as requested.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – System Planner - Level 6:
Bachelor’s degree in urban/regional planning, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. Applicants with 8 or more years of related service will be given credit toward meeting the minimum educational requirements and will be considered for the position.
Planning experience preferred.
AICP or ability to obtain certification required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – System Planner - Level 08:
Two years of planning experience required. A master’s degree in planning may be substituted for one (1) year of planning experience.
Ability to perform essential functions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – System Planner - Level 10:
Five years of planning experience of which at least two are full-time experience with the Metroparks.
Ability to perform essential functions.
