Lead the Front Lines of Animal Emergency Response
Marin County, CA | Full-Time | $87,297–$97,008 annually
When disaster strikes, animals need strong, compassionate leadership—and so do the communities that love them. Marin Humane is seeking an experienced Emergency Response Program Manager to lead our disaster preparedness, emergency response, and recovery efforts, ensuring animals and people are protected before, during, and after emergencies.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
As Emergency Response Program Manager, you’ll build and lead a comprehensive emergency preparedness program that spans planning, training, interagency coordination, and real-world response. You’ll serve as a key representative of Marin Humane during emergencies—working side by side with fire, law enforcement, emergency management, and animal welfare partners to protect animals and support the broader community.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Lead Marin Humane’s disaster preparedness, emergency response, and recovery programs
Serve in Incident Command or General Staff roles during emergency activations
Coordinate multi-agency response efforts and mutual aid deployments
Develop and maintain emergency plans, SOPs, training programs, and readiness documentation
Build and oversee animal technical rescue capacity and volunteer disaster response teams
Lead preparedness exercises, trainings, and community outreach efforts
Oversee emergency logistics, fleet readiness, and supply management
Support complex field operations, investigations, and large-scale animal rescues
WHO YOU ARE
You’re a steady, thoughtful leader who stays calm under pressure and values teamwork, planning, and adaptability. You bring hands-on emergency response experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across agencies and disciplines.
WHAT YOU BRING
3+ years of experience in emergency response, disaster operations, animal welfare, or public safety
Experience working in coordinated, multi-agency response environments
Leadership experience with staff and/or volunteers
Hands-on experience with small and large animals in emergency or sheltering settings
Strong project management, communication, and decision-making skills
Ability to deploy and work irregular hours during emergencies
FEMA/ICS training preferred; Spanish-English bilingual skills a plus
