Southwest Vermont Regional Technical School District Job Title: Work-Based Learning Coordinator Location: Southwest Tech, Bennington, VT School Year: 2026-2027 Employment Type: Full Time, 37.5 hours/week (School-Year Position) Salary: In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, $52,092 - $92,655 Application Deadline: May 29, 2026 Position Overview The Work-Based Learning (WBL) Coordinator empowers students to explore careers, gain real-world experience, and build the skills they need for future success. By developing and managing internships, apprenticeships, and job shadowing opportunities, this role connects students with meaningful, hands-on learning aligned to their interests and goals. The Coordinator cultivates strong partnerships with local employers and community organizations to ensure a wide range of high-quality placements. They create individualized Training Agreements and Training Plans that support each student's program of study and career pathway. In collaboration with teachers and staff, the WBL Coordinator enhances applied learning and helps students confidently transition into the workforce. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in education or related field Willingness to complete education courses required for Vermont Educator License Endorsement (5440-60 CTE WBL Coordinator) Minimum of five (5) years' experience in career technical education, teaching, or workforce development Ability to work effectively with staff and students Knowledge of federal and state legal, health, and safety regulations, including Vermont Child Labor Laws and Hazardous Occupations rules General knowledge of the goals of career & technical education Performance Responsibilities Build and maintain relationships with businesses, organizations, and community partners to create high-quality work-based learning opportunities for students. Collaborate with all program teachers to identify work-based learning opportunities for individual students and entire classes, including worksite rotations and other structured experiences. Design and implement Training Agreements and Training Plans aligned with students' personal, academic, and career goals. Provide guidance and support to students throughout their work-based learning experience, including resume development, interview preparation, and career exploration. Work closely with employers to identify placement opportunities, match students with appropriate worksites, and ensure a positive experience for both students and employers. Track student progress during placements, gather feedback from students and employers, and making adjustments to improve program quality. Ensure all placements comply with federal and state legal, health, and safety regulations, including Vermont Child Labor Laws and Hazardous Occupations rules. Promote the benefits of work-based learning to students, families, educators, employers, and policymakers, and advocate for resources to expand opportunities. Physical and Mental Demands a) Frequent standing, walking, and sitting b) Occasional lifting or assisting with lifting; reaching with hands and arms c) Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, and negligible force constantly to move objects 3. Work Environment: a) Primarily inside the school building b) Noise level is mild to moderate c) WBL Placements may occur in various local businesses, hospitals, medical offices, indoor/outdoor job sites, and other settings as opportunities arise Terms of Employment This position's terms, salary, and benefits are governed by the negotiated teacher collective bargaining agreement.
