- Associate Head Coach
Description
Assist the Head Coach in the development and implementation of training systems, athlete development, and coaching consistency across the HVA Current program. Lead assigned practice groups, support seasonal and daily training design, teach stroke technique, and help swimmers progress through age-appropriate development pathways aligned with long-term athlete development principles.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate an understanding of the USA Swimming American Development Model, modern training methodologies, and progressive athlete development systems. Candidates should also possess demonstrated ability to prepare and support swimmers competing at the Futures level and above.
The Assistant Head Coach will support meet preparation and operations, mentor developing coaches, and contribute to a positive and professional coaching culture. This position is designed as a leadership development role with the opportunity to grow into a Head Coach position within the program over time.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of coaching experience with competitive swimmers in a USA Swimming program
Demonstrated ability to develop and support swimmers competing at the Futures level and above
Strong understanding of stroke technique, athlete development, and modern swim training methodologies
Working knowledge of the USA Swimming American Development Model (ADM) and long-term athlete development principles
Ability to design and lead effective training sessions for Age Group and Senior swimmers
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to mentor assistant coaches and contribute to a positive coaching culture
Professional and effective communication with swimmers, parents, and staff
Willingness to grow into an expanded leadership role, including future Head Coach responsibilities
USA Swimming Coach Member in good standing (or ability to obtain prior to hire)
Current certifications or ability to obtain:Safety Training for Swim Coaches
CPR/AED
Athlete Protection Training
Background Check
ASCA Level 3+ preferred
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel to swim meets as needed
