Description
Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), in partnership with PeaceHealth Southwest Washington Medical Center, is seeking an experienced Adult Cardiac Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join a busy and wellestablished adult cardiac surgery practice in Vancouver, Washington, part of the greater Portland, Oregon metropolitan area.
This position is employed by OHSU and provides clinical services at PeaceHealth Southwest Washington Medical Center. The APP will join a collaborative team currently consisting of two attending cardiac surgeons and three experienced APPs, supporting a highquality cardiac surgery program known for excellent outcomes, teamwork, and strong collegial culture.
This position is parttime (0.75 FTE) and is represented by the Oregon Nurses Association – Advanced Practice United (ONAAPU).
Position Overview
The Adult Cardiac Surgery APP provides comprehensive care across the cardiac surgical episode, including operative, inpatient, perioperative, and outpatient care. The role supports a predominantly inpatient and operative practice model, with significant responsibilities in the operating room, including billable firstassist services, as well as ICU/intermediate care, clinic coverage, and participation in call coverage.
The APP works closely with cardiothoracic surgeons, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure safe, efficient, and highquality care from preoperative evaluation through hospitalization and postoperative followup.
Key Responsibilities
Operating Room: First assisting for adult cardiac surgical procedures, including CABG and aortic procedures; endoscopic vein harvesting experience is highly desired
Inpatient Care: ICU and intermediatecare management of postoperative cardiac surgery patients, daily rounding, care coordination, and discharge planning
Outpatient Care: Preoperative evaluations, postoperative followup visits, wound care, and clinic coverage to support continuity of care
Call Coverage: Participation in a home call rotation, including overnight and holiday call, proportionate to 0.75 FTE
Schedule & Coverage
Scheduled 10hour clinical shifts (7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.), including weekday, weekend, and holiday clinical shifts, proportionate to 0.75 FTE
Home call by pager, including required holiday and overnight call, proportionate to FTE

Qualifications
Required
Master’s degree in Nursing (Acute Care NP or AdultGerontology Acute Care NP) or Master’s degree in Physician Assistant/Associate Studies
Current licensure in both Oregon and Washington, appropriate to discipline (or ability to obtain)
Ability to meet credentialing requirements at both OHSU and PeaceHealth Southwest Washington Medical Center
National certification in specialty area
BLS and ACLS certification
DEA registration or eligibility to obtain
Preferred
At least 2 years of experience in adult cardiac surgery
Endoscopic vein harvesting experience
Prior inpatient surgical or critical care experience
