Company Profile

Bridge City Law

Company Overview

Bridge City Law is a small client-centered personal injury law firm located in downtown Portland, Oregon. Our mission is to guide and advocate for people who have been injured – whether we ultimately represent them- by providing compassionate, strategic legal support so they can move forward with dignity. We believe that investing in our community strengthens the relationships that sustain us. Our work is grounded in collaboration, integrity, and service, both in how we represent our clients and how we show up through ongoing community involvement. Internally, we prioritize a transparent and inclusive workplace where every team member is valued, supported, and heard.

Company History

In 1998, Dean Heiling and Jim Dwyer started practicing law together. The firm was called Dean Heiling & Associates. Dean started practicing in 1971 and Jim in 1988. Their goal was to have a successful practice where clients and staff were both well cared for. In 2005, we became partners and formed Heiling Dwyer & Associates.

In 2010, we were looking to bring on another attorney. Dean had several cases with a defense attorney named Roy Fernandes. He was so impressed with Roy, that we asked him to switch from defense to plaintiff’s personal injury. We are so fortunate he did. In 2017, Pat Reece, who was a personal injury defense attorney for Farmers, came to work with us. All of the BCL attorneys love to cook!

In 2020, Jim bought the firm from Dean, who became of counsel, and the office moved from SW 12 th and Morrison to its current location. At the same time, Jim and Roy became partners and formed Heiling Dwyer Fernandes.

In November 2021, we made a final name change to Bridge City Law. BCL proudly became the first personal injury law firm in the world to be certified B Corp in October 2022.
