Description

The Dean for School of Nursing, reporting to the Provost, has an exceptional opportunity to reimagine the School of

Nursing at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Dean will contribute to the overall strategic direction of Baker College and be a champion of academic excellence and be dedicated to student success and the student experience.

As a strategic thinker, the Dean will identify and evaluate opportunities for growth and efficiencies while ensuring that standards align with academic excellence.

Inheriting a talented team of faculty and staff, the Dean will direct and oversee the New Essentials curricula updates and accreditation relationship, including the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The Dean must be a transparent, approachable, thoughtful leader skilled at building relationships.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Doctoral degree in Nursing with RN license and related work experience required

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage program officials in the content area to ensure compliance with program policies and ensure usage of consistent curriculum and assessment of course/program resources are updated and implemented as outlined for each program.
  • Determine the activities required to achieve the goals of the College and assign responsibility and authority to perform these activities
  • Provide direction and oversight to help ensure that program funds are managed in accordance with federal regulations and BC policies and procedures.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain curriculum in the programs that respond to community needs, prepares students for success, and meets the external requirements of specialized accrediting bodies.
  • Lead development and implementation of key performance indicators relative to driving continuous improvement through both assessment processes and curricular efforts.
  • Assist the College in determining effective methods for the integration of curriculum standards, instructional strategies, and the developmental use of authentic assessment.
  • Oversee personnel matters, such as recruitment, selection, promotion and retention of faculty based on criteria established through consultation and cooperation with the faculty and administration; supervise faculty teaching loads, and ensure that a high level of instruction is achieved and maintained.
  • Ensure compliance and submittals of programmatic annual assessment reports (i.e., Program/College retention; Program/College enrollment; Graduate Employment Percentage; Related Employment Percentage).
  • Assist in identifying professional development needs and develop long-range professional development plans.
  • Coordinate cooperative programs which the college enters into with other colleges and/or departments, educational institutions, government agencies, or private industry.
  • Represent the college in professional associations, accrediting agencies, government bodies, foundations, and the business community; sponsor faculty participation with various local professional organizations.
  • Engage in fundraising functions external to the university and identifies potential sources of revenue for the university through contacts with government, foundations, the local business community and alumni groups.
  • Assist in general university activities as they pertain to interests external to the college proper (i.e., alumni relations, fund raising, parent relations).
  • Represent the college to key constituencies, including various local and state groups, to continually elevate the visibility and brand of the College in the community.
  • Organize and facilitate program advisory board committees.
  • Assist with increasing internship opportunities within the community by maintaining a quality educational presence and maintain programmatic community partnerships.
  • Articulate the goals of the College in conjunction with the long-range plans of the institution.
  • Teach in the content area of expertise in order to keep current in learning environments. Other duties as assigned
