The Department of Communications at Molloy University invites applications for a one-year temporary position for a Visiting Professor beginning September 2026. We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative colleague to fill this position. The ideal candidate for this position will display evidence of the ability to teach courses in the television production and cinema studies concentration.
Preference will be given to candidates who can teach both media production and studies communication courses. Examples of courses available to teach include, but are not limited to: Media Literacy, Experiences in Communication, Public Speaking, History of Media, Screenwriting, Art of Film and Television, TV Studio Production, Podcast Production, and Video Editing. The successful candidate would additionally help the department with advising students and recruitment initiatives.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate dedication to student-centered teaching and transformative liberal arts education, and a commitment to service for students and the department. Candidates should also be prepared to meet the needs of a diverse learning community. Though there is no requirement for scholarly production in the visiting faculty appointment, candidates with a research agenda are encouraged to share this information in their application materials. Faculty scholarship is essential to the department/university and is encouraged for professional growth.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will meet the following minimum requirements:
PhD in Communications, Media Studies, or related field; ABD considered
Preferred Qualifications:
College-level teaching experience in Communications
Evidence of an active and developing plan of Communication scholarship and publication
Professional experience in a related field
Experience advising and mentoring students
Experience using new and emerging technologies for teaching, research, or creative projects
