Join a team that’s Changing What’s Possible – The Medical University of South Carolina’s MUSC Health Senior Retreat is actively recruiting for a Medical Director and Inpatient General/Geriatric Psychiatrist to provide clinical services and leadership in our 20-bed Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit.

MUSC Health Kershaw Medical Center, located in Camden, South Carolina, is currently recruiting for a BC/BE Psychiatrist to join the team on our 20-bed Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit. The Psychiatrist would also have Medical Directorship responsibilities on the Geriatric Unit. Clinical responsibilities will include new admission assessments and discharges, evaluation and management of psychiatric patients on the inpatient unit, providing psychiatric consults for medical-surgical patients, and supervision of Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners.

The Medical Director will hold a critical leadership position at the hospital and must be willing to work in a collaborative environment on the unit with treatment professionals, administration, and community professionals. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the Medical Director will be responsible for administrative functions on the unit, medical staff participation, and community interaction and education. Must also participate in court proceedings as needed to comply with local regulations for involuntary committals or releases. Will work in conjunction with a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner on a day-to-day basis and will share on-call responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in Geriatric Psychiatry, however, new graduates and candidates with Adult Psychiatry experience will also be considered.
