The Director of Finance and Administrative Services provides strategic leadership and oversight for all financial and internal service functions of the Fraser Valley Metropolitan Recreation District (FVMRD). This position manages the District’s budgeting, accounting, payroll, and reporting processes in accordance with GAAP and state regulations. In addition to financial management, the Director oversees administrative services including human resources, risk management, information technology coordination, and policy development.
Serving as a key member of the leadership team, this role supports the Executive Director in district-wide planning, operational coordination, and compliance with Colorado Special District requirements. The Director also prepares financial statements for the Board of Directors, leads the annual audit and budget processes, and provides guidance on investment strategies and long-term fiscal sustainability.
This position is ideal for a collaborative and detail-oriented professional with a strong background in public sector finance, HR administration, and organizational leadership.
Requirements
Proficiency in financial management and point-of-sale software.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the staff members, board members, patrons, and the public.
Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Knowledge of State of Colorado rules and regulations for budget submittal and other requirements (or ability to obtain the required knowledge).
Knowledge of human resource relations, policies, and procedures.
General knowledge of computer systems, phone systems and office equipment. Thorough knowledge a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources or related field.
Minimum of three years of progressively responsible financial management experience.
Experience with Human Resource policy and procedures.
Experience with Government Agencies or Special Districts preferred.
