At Blue Valley Recreation, we believe recreation is for everyone. We’re looking for an energetic and creative Recreation Coordinator for our Inclusive Recreation program who is excited to build welcoming, engaging programs where people of all abilities can connect, grow, and have fun. Shifts: Monday-Friday 12(noon)-8pm; with the ability to flex hours as needed. Occasional weekend hours required. Must attend all Special Olympic competitions, travel to state/national competitions when needed.
Starting Pay Range: $28.04 - $32
Key Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and deliver Inclusive Recreation programs and events for participants of varying abilities Assess participant needs and implement appropriate accommodations and modifications Train and support staff and volunteers on inclusive practices and ADA considerations Collaborate with families, caregivers, and community partners to enhance program accessibility Manage program registrations, participant documentation, and reports Evaluate programs and outcomes to continuously improve services Promote programs through outreach and community engagement efforts Ensure safety protocols and risk management practices are followed at all times
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Special Education, or related field (or equivalent experience). Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation preferred
Experience working with individuals with disabilities or diverse populations; candidates with 3+ years of experience are strongly preferred
Experience programming adaptive recreation, special events, and ongoing general recreation activities; candidates with 3+ years of experience are strongly preferred
Experience directly supervising subordinate staff and managing various projects; candidates with 3+ years of experience are strongly preferred
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Ability to adapt activities creatively to meet diverse needs
Knowledge of inclusive recreation principles and practices
CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
