Position: Swim Instructor
Rate: $17-$19/hour (depending on WSI certification, see below for specifics)

As a Swim Instructor, you’ll lead swimming lessons, cheer on progress, and create positive learning experiences for every swimmer. You’ll plan engaging lessons, track progress, communicate with parents, and bring energy and creativity to every class. Whether you’re teaching beginners their first kicks or helping advanced swimmers refine their technique, you’ll play a key role in helping our community feel safe and strong in the water.

Job Duties:
- Teach assigned swimming lessons and substitute when needed.
- Record attendance, track student progress and distribute end of session progress report cards to each student.
- Communicate with parents about student progress, challenges and accomplishments.
- Prepare lesson plans and ensure all equipment is set up and put away.
- Bring energy, creativity, and professionalism to every class.
- Maintain a safe learning environment and keep all students within sight.
- Be in the water during all beginner levels and part of every class for all levels.
- Encourage students and parents to practice between lessons.
- Respond calmly to emergencies and complete required incident reports.
- Participate in staff meetings, in-service trainings, orientations and drills.
- Provide courteous customer service and resolve concerns appropriately,
- Report facility hazards or issues to supervisors.
- Maintain reliable attendance and secure substitutes when unable to work.
Requirements
Required Experience:
Swim Instructor ($17.00/hour):
- Must be at least 15 years of age.
- Current American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certifications, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Water Safety Instructor ($19.00/hour):
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification required.
