- Sr. Director, Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR)

Reporting to the SVP, Medical Affairs, the Sr. Director/Ex. Director, Health Economics & Outcomes Research will be responsible for the development and delivery of impactful evidence strategies to support market access, reimbursement, and overall product value demonstration. The role requires a cross-functional mindset, scientific rigor, and the ability to lead projects from concept to execution in alignment with global regulatory and commercial needs.
This role is based in our Waltham, MA headquarters. Our office-based employees are required to work in the office three (3) days a week.
Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and own the global HEOR strategy across the product lifecycle to demonstrate clinical, humanistic, and economic value of Viridian’s therapies
 Align HEOR strategy with key internal stakeholders, including Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Market Access, and Commercial
Evidence Generation & Execution
- Design and lead execution of real-world evidence (RWE) initiatives, including retrospective database studies, prospective observational studies, economic modeling, and systematic literature reviews
- Incorporate patient-reported outcomes (PROs) and quality of life (QoL) measures into clinical trials and HEOR activities
- Collaborate with Biostatistics and Regulatory to ensure HEOR endpoints and study designs meet global health authority and HTA expectations
Scientific Communication
- Develop and execute publication and congress presentation plans to effectively disseminate HEOR findings
- Ensure alignment with GPP (Good Publication Practice) and scientific integrity throughout the publication process
Cross-Functional & External Collaboration
- Partner with Clinical Development teams to optimize endpoint selection and data collection in clinical studies for future HEOR utility
- Serve as HEOR point-of-contact for global payer, HTA, and regulatory interactions
- Engage and manage vendors, academic collaborators, and external consultants to deliver HEOR projects on time and within scope
- Work with key external stakeholders, including KOLs and health economics experts, to shape and validate research approaches
- Collaborate closely with U.S. and International Commercial and Market Access teams to ensure HEOR evidence meets global payer needs and supports launch readiness, pricing, and reimbursement activities
Operational Excellence
- Monitor emerging trends, data sources, and methodologies in HEOR and RWE; recommend innovations to maintain a cutting-edge approach
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, internal SOPs, and data privacy requirements
Requirements
- Requires a minimum of an advanced degree in medical science (MD, PharmD, or PhD) with 15+ years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry in Medical Affairs
- Solid understanding and experience in pharmaceutical product development and/or commercialization
- Experience in health economics and patient reported outcomes analyses, clinical trial protocol development, and a good understanding of Phase IV study designs that produce clinically and economically relevant value
- Proficiency in scientific literature searches, analysis, and evaluation
- Skills necessary to create, present and evaluate scientific and clinical data
- Demonstrated understanding of health care systems dynamics and financing mechanisms
- Experience in dealing with pricing, reimbursement and HTA (Health Technology Assessment) in US and major EU markets
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Proven ability to think strategically
- Strong commitment to ethical standards
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)
- Ability to travel up to 10%
- The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience
