Description
OverviewThe Second Assistant Golf Professional plays a key role in delivering an exceptional golf experience at Dye's Walk Country Club. This position is heavily focused on daily golf operations, member events, and outside events. The role supports all aspects of the operation including tournaments, outside services coordination, member services, instruction, and junior programming while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and service.
Experience Required
- PGA Associate status or willingness to enroll in the PGA Program preferred
- Prior private club experience preferred
- Strong organization and event management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communications
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Previous golf shop software and Golf Genius experience preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, and holidays
Schedule expectations
- In-season (April-October): Approximately 35-40 hours per week
- Offseason (November-March): Approximately 20-25 hours per week. Additional hours in other departments available.
- Occasional weeks exceeding 40 hours during major tournaments, member events, and special functions
- Schedule will include weekends, holidays, and variable shifts based on operational needs
Essential Responsibilities
Golf Shop and Member Service Operations
- Provide exceptional, personalized service to members and their guests
- Assist with daily opening and closing procedures of the golf shop
- Manage tee sheet activities including reservations, check-ins, and billing
- Execute point-of-sale transactions accurately and efficiently
- Handle phone calls, member inquiries, and special requests in a professional manner
- Support handicap administration and tee sheet management
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming golf shop environment
Tournament and Event Operations
- Assist in planning, organizing, and executing club tournaments, member events, and corporate outings
- Prepare pairings, scorecards, cart signs, rules sheets, and event materials
- Coordinate on-course setup including signage, contest holes, and staging areas
- Manage scoring operations, results, and prize distribution
- Support pace of play monitoring and overall event flow
Outside Golf Operations and Player Services
- Coordinate closely with outside services staff to ensure seamless daily operations
- Assist with cart fleet staging, practice facility setup, and range operations
- Serve as starter or marshal as needed to manage flow of play and member experience
- Ensure a high standard of presentation across all outdoor golf areas
Instruction and Player Development
- Provide individual lessons and group instruction as needed
- Assist with clinics, beginner programs, and player development initiatives as needed
- Support junior golf programs and junior league activities
Merchandising and Inventory
- Assist with receiving, tagging, displaying, and stocking merchandise
- Maintain visually appealing displays consistent with club standards
- Support inventory management and quarterly physical accounts
Leadership and Team Support
- Supervise staff in the absence of senior professionals
- Assist in training and mentoring seasonal employees and caddies
- Represent the golf operation in a courteous and professional manner at all times
