Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Complies with established safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure the safety of self, co-workers, community residents, and visitors.
Always wear appropriate safety equipment including protective headwear, eye and ear protection, safety shoes, gloves, respirators, and breathing apparatus.
Performs playground maintenance daily.
Performs required maintenance to district owned fences.
Assists with weekly inspections and repairs of building facilities and playgrounds.
Performs removal of all types of graffiti throughout the Parks and Open Space system.
Helps with the general repairs of Metro buildings, Parks Facility buildings and all other tasks or projects assigned to the Facilities Section
Assists in setting up and taking down equipment from various parks, recreation programs, and community events.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Basic knowledge of common hand tools and power tools.
Work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
Lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time, and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
Communicate verbally and in writing.
Use equipment and tools properly and safely.
Understand, follow, and transmit written and verbal instructions.
Establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public.
Supervision Received
Works under the general supervision of the Facilities Supervisor and full-time staff.
Work Schedule
Generally, this position works between 6:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Work schedules will vary depending on weather conditions, projects, events, and programs. Opportunities for overtime and weekend work may be available. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
Tools and Equipment Used
Will be trained on the safe use of hand and power tools and small powered equipment necessary to job functions. Will be expected to drive a district vehicle.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and sometimes lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions and near moving mechanical parts. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places, and may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The employee may occasionally be exposed to the risk of electrical shock.
