Description
This position operates under the immediate supervision of a Security Supervisor and under the overall direction of the Security Director. Event Security personnel play a critical role in maintaining a safe, secure, and enjoyable environment for all employees, performers, vendors, and guests at Henry Maier Festival Park. Event Security staff protect people, assets, and property by enforcing access control procedures, maintaining situational awareness, monitoring crowd behavior, and responding to incidents. Assignments may include VIP entrances, service gates, screening checkpoints, seating areas, backstage and production zones, loading docks, perimeter gates, or any restricted/unrestricted areas throughout the grounds. If you attend the extra training session during orientation you will be considered Premium Event Security.
Access Control & Credential Management
Monitor and control access points to ensure only authorized individuals enter restricted
areas.
Process credentials for employees, vendors, media, VIPs, artists, and guests.
Inspect and monitor vehicles entering and exiting the venue.
Manage guest flow through security screening checkpoints.
Crowd Surveillance & Safety Oversight
Remain vigilant at all times, observing crowd behavior for safety risks, disruptions, or
prohibited items.
Assist with crowd movement and flow inside and outside performance areas.
Implement preventative crowd control strategies to reduce congestion and enhance
safety.
Incident Response & Policy Enforcement
Respond without delay to disturbances, unauthorized entries, or emergency situations.
Enforce venue policies professionally, including addressing disorderly conduct, other
violations, and prohibited items.
Immediately alert management of suspicious, dangerous, or unsafe behavior.
De-escalate conflicts and maintain a respectful, calm approach with guests.
Artist, VIP & Backstage Protection
Provide security assistance and controlled access for performers, VIPs, and high-profile
individuals.
Maintain secure backstage, loading dock, and production work zones.
Communication & Coordination
Maintain professional radio communication with supervisors, team members, and event
management.
Coordinate with medical teams during medical emergencies or injuries.
Follow all instructions and assignments issued by the Security Supervisor.
General Patrol & Post Assignments
Patrol assigned zones or stand post to deter unauthorized or unsafe activity.
Never leave a post until properly relieved by a supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned depending on operational needs.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform constant walking, bending, reaching,
and repetitive motions.
Ability to move up to 25-lb barricades, push gates, and ascend/descend stairs.
May be required to work in confined, narrow, or crowded spaces.
Must attend mandatory pre-season training and any additional training as required.
Must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance at all times.
Light/Medium Work: Lifting 30 pounds Maximum, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Ability to maintain composure when interacting with intoxicated, emotional, or disruptive
guests.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Must be willing to be reassigned to any location on the Summerfest grounds as operational
needs dictate
Ability to identify potential safety issues, escalating behaviors, or crowd-related risks.
Ability to properly use two-way radio communication and follow radio protocol.
Ability to follow instructions and maintain professionalism within a structured chain-ofcommand
environment.
Ability to write clear, accurate notes or incident reports when required.
Experience or training in verbal conflict de-escalation preferred.
Ability to respond quickly to incidents in crowded or dynamic environments.
Ability to maintain situational awareness in loud, high-traffic, or high-stress settings.
Strong guest-service orientation while maintaining safety and security standards.
Prior event security or crowd management experience preferred
