Description
Are you caring, responsible, and have a positive attitude? Kirkmont Center is currently recruiting post-high school individuals to assist with summer camp operations. This may include (but is not limited to) camp activities, music, kitchen, housekeeping, cleaning, and other duties as assigned to provide an engaging and positive experience for campers.
Summer staff have the unique opportunity to become important parts of the development of the next generation while helping to make the world a better place, one person/one experience at a time, many times each day!
Staff Training (Attendance is Mandatory): 2 Weeks – End of May – Beginning of June
Summer Overnight Camps: Beginning of June – Beginning of August. Some staff will be needed on weekends from August through September
Duties: Prepare for and actively participate in staff training and daily meetings; be present and lead by example in all assigned aspects of camp including but not limited to all meals, rest time, evening activities, vespers, daily assigned activities, and daily assigned duties; assist in providing a quality summer children’s program that includes a variety of educational, social and physical learning experiences; ensure all tasks are performed at a high quality to provide a positive experience for guests, campers, and volunteers of Kirkmont Center; ensure a safe environment by abiding by all policies and procedures, which follow American Camp Association Standards; be welcoming and inclusive to families, pastors, church coordinators, volunteers, campers and fellow staff; cleaning: ensure that all program areas are cleaned daily, and all camper and staff accommodations are cleaned weekly; help design weekly camp programs and evening activities; hospitality: help ensure check-in process goes smoothly, greet and welcome campers each day; orient all campers to camp rules and responsibilities on the first day; provide daily support/backup for summer counselors; model the Kirkmont Center culture through caring and responsible actions and attitude. Other duties as assigned by Kirkmont leadership.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; at least 18 years old; strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability, willingness, and endurance to maintain effective supervision of campers and perform other duties as assigned; ability and willingness to enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures; ability to remain calm under stress and respond efficiently and effectively in emergencies; ability and willingness to work both independently and as a member of a high-functioning team; self-motivation, flexibility, and an ability and willingness to work well under supervision; ability and willingness to work with individuals from a variety of ages and backgrounds; ability and willingness to observe and assess camper behavior and apply appropriate behavior management techniques; enthusiasm; sense of humor; patience; self-control; emotional intelligence and maturity; excellent organizational skills.
