Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
The Laboratory Research Technician I is a member of the Zavros laboratory and assists medical research efforts by cleaning, repairing and providing maintenance on a variety of medical and lab devices and equipment. Responsibilities will include performing regular equipment checks to include testing, inspecting, calibrating, and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions. In addition, this position will be responsible for completing detailed documentation to report and monitor the condition of the lab equipment.

- Ability to operate, clean and provide maintenance to lab-related equipment and determine equipment operational condition
- Follow written and verbal instructions, perform tasks and document actions taken
- Written and verbal communication skills to interact with lab faculty, staff and students to achieve positive outcomes

Duties/Responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities
- Maintain lab equipment to include cleaning, repairing and providing maintenance on a variety of medical and lab devices and equipment
- Provide regular equipment checks to include testing, inspecting, calibrating, and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions
- Ordering laboratory consumables and equipment through UGA's online ordering system and liaising with laboratory vendors for quotes and other inquiries
- Ensuring reagents are well-stocked and properly labeled to optimize productivity in the lab and streamline workflow
- Cleaning, maintaining, and calibrating standard laboratory equipment such as pipettes, centrifuges, and pH meters to keep them in working condition
- Completing regular laboratory maintenance tasks including changing liquid nitrogen dewars, autoclaving labware and plastics, and handling biohazard waste in compliance with safety guidelines
Complete detailed documentation to report and monitor the condition of the equipment
Percentage of time 25 Duties/Responsibilities
Promotes teamwork by keeping members of the lab informed of any issues and updates. Works to help accomplish group objectives and projects
