Responsibilities
The Principal Consultant Cloud role is a senior subject matter expert with a combination of business outcome mapping and deep Cloud and Hybrid Cloud expertise, responsible for positioning, architecting, and evangelizing cloud-first and hybrid multioffering solutions that deliver measurable business outcomes for customers. This role leads clients through cloud transformation strategies aligned to business objectives, operational maturity, and long-term modernization roadmaps.
- Take a leadership role in strategic account planning and execution that enables cloud and hybrid modernization, driving multioffering adoption with emphasis on Cloud, EMP, and Managed Services.
- Foster effective relationships throughout the client environment, from Executive teams through IT and independent Business Units
- Influence and drive business and IT alignment within client organizations
- Lead cloud and hybrid cloud customer envisioning workshops, cloud readiness assessments, and modernization road mapping initiatives, including application, infrastructure, and operational migration strategies.
- Operate as a pseudo vCIO and/or vCTO for strategic customers, with primary focus on cloud strategy, hybrid operating models, cloud governance, cost optimization (FinOps), and security alignment
- Develop trusted advisor status and act as the primary Cloud and Hybrid Cloud authority, leading strategic conversations among client stakeholders, Hyperscaler partners, and technology vendors.
- Create and maintain strategic relationships to include facilitating meetings, quarterly business reviews, and strategic briefings to enhance generating valuable exchanges
- Participate in Offering Boards with the respective leads of NWN's offerings to provide feedback and gain knowledge tied to road map, vision, and strategy
- Coach/Mentor/Support NWN Business Architect (BA) team
- Own the Cloud and Hybrid Cloud solution vision within assigned accounts, ensuring architectural consistency and alignment with customer business objectives
- Design, validate, and position public cloud, private cloud, and hybrid cloud architectures, including migration, modernization, and optimization strategies
- Provide executive-level guidance on cloud governance, security, compliance, resiliency, and financial management (FinOps)
- Act as escalation point and technical authority for complex cloud engagements
- Partner closely with Cloud Engineering, Managed Services, and Hyperscaler teams to ensure solution feasibility and delivery excellence
- Understand and articulate at the expert level all NWN service offerings and capabilities.
- Maintains knowledge of market trends, technology trends, business challenges and priorities.
- Represent NWN with contractors, suppliers, customers, departments, and other parties as required.
- Optimizes and leverages available systems, tools, and resources including project tracking and reporting tools.
- NWN pipeline reporting within the account to the Sales Management team.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience collecting business and technical requirements at the C-level
- 10+ years of experience with solution architecture, including significant hands-on experience with Cloud and Hybrid Cloud platforms, managed services, and enterprise IT environments
- Demonstrated experience designing and presenting Cloud and Hybrid Cloud architectures, including migration strategies, application modernization, and cloud operating models.
- 10+ years of experience working with high performing cross-functional teams
- Experience creating Cloud-focused business impact analysis, including ROI, TCO, cloud cost optimization models, and modernization value cases.
- Experience presenting at the CxO Level
- Highly flexible, self-directed and with ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to exercise exceptional judgment where practices and policies are not clearly defined.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities and potentially, multiple teams.
- Excellent problem solving and negotiation skills.
- Exceptional client facing communications and presentation skills.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience/military experience preferred
- IT Service Management (ITSM) certification preferred
- At least one major Cloud or Hybrid Cloud vendor certification preferred, such as Microsoft Azure (Architect/Expert), AWS (Solutions Architect/Professional), Google Cloud, VMware Cloud, or equivalent enterprise cloud certifications
Travel: Local driving distance on a daily basis.
Overtime: As required for support or implementation work
