Description
Assess the spatial distribution of CRP in Kansas and the Great Plains. Examine the potential for soil carbon sequestration related to soil type, climate, and yield potential. Evaluate the vulnerability of converting land to cultivated agriculture and the benefits of neighboring grasslands that provide critical wildlife habitat. The selected candidate will conduct research and prepare technical reports and scientific journal articles. The successful applicant will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including ecologists, soil scientists, and modelers.
Requirements
Ph.D. in Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Soil Science, Geography, or closely related discipline. Experience with soil carbon modeling, geospatial analysis, and statistical analyses. Demonstrated excellence in coursework, good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work as a team member. Valid driver’s license.
