Description

This 10-week REU experience will provide participants with an insight into scientific research, graduate school, and diverse STEM careers. Participants will be assigned a faculty mentor and will work closely with this mentor and their lab group to complete a research project focused on plant sciences and genomics. Biology is becoming more data intensive and therefore this opportunity will also provide formal training in computational biology to enable participants to develop skills in this area so they can become more comfortable manipulating and interpreting large datasets. There will also be a strong emphasis on professional development to help students improve their knowledge and skills related to scientific communication, graduate school applications, and life as a graduate student.
