Description
Responsibilities include providing leadership aligned and committed to the District's Strategic Plan for the continual improvement of educational programs for all students; a commitment to equity and building a diverse school community; maintaining positive staff relationships with all stakeholders of the Rochester School District; directing staffing and budgetary decisions, and maintaining commitment to the District's mission statement. The Middle School Principal provides leadership that:
- Leads staff in the use and facilitation of technology in the delivery of curriculum, instruction and assessment.
- Demonstrates committed collaboration with the superintendent, district office directors, principal colleagues, associations and unions to ensure systemic planning and implementation of the District's Strategic Plan goals and measures.
- Fosters school spirit, traditions and a positive school culture.
- Communicates information to stakeholders in multiple, meaningful ways.
- Participates in and provides professional development and models current and best instructional practices.
- Models effective instructional leadership with staff and colleagues and demonstrates a strong commitment to equitable outcomes for all students.
- Ensures effective systems are in place to monitor student progress.
- Promotes an environment which fosters high expectations for students, staff and self.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree and valid Washington State principal and teacher certificates.
- A working knowledge of current District student achievement initiatives (MTSS, Literacy, Multilingual education, etc.).
- Ability to structure time and manage multiple priorities independently.
- Successful fingerprint/background check

- Ability to model principles of self-awareness, reflective practice, transparency and ethical behavior.
- Demonstrated ability to bring about change in a school through anticipating problems, meeting needs and sharing decisions through the use of effective problem-sharing strategies.
- Skill at facilitating team-oriented behavior.
- Ability to collaborate across networks and lead by influence.
- Successful experience managing human and fiscal resources.
- Experience using equity lens/tool for decision making
- Experience using My School Data and Skyward
- Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning, trauma sensitive and culturally responsive practices and Kagan strategies.
- Experience with Marzano Instructional Framework.
