Job Description:
The Digital & Data Studies (DiDa) program seeks to hire two full-time lecturers with focuses in either data science or digital media.
The DiDa program combines tech skills including programming, data science, the digital humanities, user experience design, and web development, with a focus on social justice and critical data studies. Digital & Data Studies is designed to be accessible and inclusive to students in Harpur College, regardless of prior experience. In its fourth year, DiDa is the largest minor at Binghamton University. Minors come from many different majors across the liberal arts, with the highest representation of students from Mathematics & Statistics, Studio Art and Graphic Design, Economics, Psychology, and Political Science. The program currently has eight faculty members who hold degrees in American Culture Studies, Anthropology, Comparative Literature, Astronomy, Library and Information Sciences, English, Geography, and Studio Art. Candidates for the position may come from any discipline.
The Lecturer will be responsible for teaching a total of six courses per year, or three courses per semester and associated office hours. This is a full-time position (up to three-year contract) with possible renewal. The teaching load will consist primarily of current DIDA courses as needed, with some opportunity for new course development.
Descriptions of current course offerings can be found on the Binghamton University schedule of classes. Prior experience teaching these courses is not required or expected. In addition, the position requires some program service, which can include advising, organizing events or serving on program committees.

- PhD or terminal degree in any discipline by August 17, 2026.
Preferred:
- Experience teaching at the college level, either as a TA or instructor of record.
- Experience teaching technical skills to a broad audience.
- Demonstrated history of learning new digital skills
