Summary/Objective: This role is a full-time position. The HR Generalist is a foundational hire who will build TCS's HR function from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced HR professional who thrives in a startup-style environment, someone energized by creating structure where little exists, designing processes from scratch, and laying the groundwork for a scalable people function. This position owns the full employee lifecycle, from recruiting and onboarding through performance management and offboarding, and serves as a trusted resource for employees and managers across the organization. Essential Functions:
Recruiting & Onboarding
- Manage fullcycle recruiting for open positions, including job postings, applicant screening, interview coordination, and offer letter preparation.
- Partner with hiring managers to define role requirements and ensure a consistent, positive candidate experience.
- Facilitate newhire onboarding, including I9 verification, systems access, benefits enrollment, and orientation.
- Maintain applicant tracking processes and ensure compliance with EEOC and federal hiring requirements.
Benefits & Leave Administration
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries, including health insurance, retirement plans, and ancillary benefits.
- Administer leave programs such as FMLA, ADA accommodations, shortterm disability, and company leave policies.
- Partner with benefits brokers and carriers to resolve employee issues, support annual open enrollment, and evaluate new benefit offerings to strengthen the employee value proposition.
- Maintain accurate leave records and ensure timely, compliant processing of all leave requests.
Compliance & Policy
- Ensure HR practices comply with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Maintain and update the employee handbook, HR policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Design and document HR processes, workflows, and SOPs across all HR functions to support a scalable peopleoperations infrastructure.
- Build and maintain complete, organized personnel files in compliance with recordkeeping requirements.
- Register and manage state tax ID numbers as the company expands into new states.
- Monitor multistate compliance obligations and coordinate with finance to address new state registrations.
- Conduct periodic audits of personnel files, I9 records, and HR data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Employee Relations & Performance
- Serve as a responsive, objective resource for employee questions, concerns, and conflict resolution.
- Support managers in administering performance improvement plans, corrective actions, and related documentation.
- Assist in facilitating annual performance reviews and goalsetting processes.
- Identify trends and provide recommendations to leadership to support employee engagement and retention.
- Create and distribute a monthly employee newsletter to keep the team informed, connected, and engaged across a fully remote workforce.
- Support ad hoc HR projects and organizational initiatives as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
HR Data & Reporting
- Prepare routine HR reports and dashboards, including headcount, turnover, recruiting metrics, and compliance tracking.
- Maintain data accuracy across HR systems and support ongoing improvements to HRIS workflows.
Training & Development Support
- Coordinate employee training sessions, compliance courses, and professional development programs.
- Track completion of required trainings and maintain related documentation.
Culture & Engagement Initiatives
- Support companywide engagement efforts, including recognition programs, virtual events, and teambuilding activities.
- Gather employee feedback and assist in developing action plans to strengthen culture and retention.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes and enhance the employee experience.
- Participate in crossfunctional projects to improve operational efficiency across the organization.
Recruiting Operations
- Maintain job descriptions, interview guides, and recruiting templates to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Support employer branding initiatives, including job board presence, social media postings, and candidate communications.
HR Systems & Technology
- Assist with configuration, maintenance, and optimization of HR tools and systems.
- Troubleshoot employee access issues and coordinate with IT or vendors as needed.
Compensation & Payroll Support
- Assist with compensation benchmarking, salary updates, and internal equity reviews.
- Partner with payroll to ensure accurate processing of employee changes, deductions, and leaverelated pay adjustments.
Vendor & Partner Coordination
- Support relationships with external partners such as benefits brokers, background check providers, and HR technology vendors.
- Monitor service levels and escalate issues when needed.
Documentation & Recordkeeping
- Maintain templates, forms, and HR documentation to ensure consistency and compliance across all HR functions.
- Support audit preparation and respond to documentation requests as needed.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
- TCS operates as a fully remote organization. Employees are expected to maintain a professional, distractionfree workspace with reliable internet access.
- Work is performed primarily in a home office setting, using standard computer equipment, communication tools, and cloudbased systems.
- Roles may require periodic participation in virtual meetings, trainings, or team collaboration sessions across multiple time zones.
- Some positions may require occasional inperson events, conferences, or client meetings, with advance notice provided or as scheduled per client agreements or contracts.
- The work environment is fastpaced and deadlinedriven, requiring the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
Required Education and Experience
- 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a small to mid-size organization
- Working knowledge of federal employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, EEOC)
- Experience administering benefits and leave programs
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High degree of discretion and sound judgment in handling sensitive employee matters
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office
Preferred Education and Experience
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification
- Experience working in a remote-first or distributed team environment
- Familiarity with the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS)
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $70,000 – $75,000 annualized, commensurate with experience
