King Library Building. This student assistant will have a hands-on role working with fragile archival materials and supporting the project through both physical preservation and digitization processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inventory of historic newspapers
- Carefully handle and prepare fragile newspapers for digitization and long-term storage
- Scan newspapers using appropriate equipment and techniques to preserve image quality and integrity
- Organize, label, and store digital files according to established naming conventions and archival standards
- Maintain accurate records of items inventoried, scanned, and stored
- Use spreadsheets and other tools to track project progress and metadata
- English language proficiency
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills, reliability, and ability to follow procedures
- Ability to handle fragile, rare, and special material objects with care and respect for the intrinsic value of archival materials
- Experience with Photoshop and photography (helpful but not required)
- Basic familiarity with spreadsheets (helpful but not required
