Prestigious Houston Immigration Law Firm
A prestigious and well-established Houston-based immigration law firm seeks an experienced Head of Immigration Court Litigation to lead and manage its Immigration Court Department. This is a senior, partnership-track position intended for a seasoned litigator who can assume full responsibility for the department and run it with professionalism, confidence, and sound judgment.
Position Overview
The Head of Litigation will oversee all aspects of the firm’s immigration court practice, including case strategy, attorney mentorship, departmental management, and quality control. This role requires a hands-on leader who is comfortable making decisions, setting standards, and ensuring high-quality representation across the department. The Head of Litigation will report directly to the firm’s Shareholders.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Immigration Court Department, consisting of 5+ attorneys and support staff
Oversee and manage litigation calendars and court appearances
Provide legal guidance, mentorship, and training to less experienced attorneys
Answer substantive case questions and assist with case strategy and troubleshooting
Conduct file reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and best practices
Supervise departmental workflows and evaluate processes and procedures, recommending and implementing improvements as needed
Participate in and conduct client consultations
Perform departmental oversight, including staff supervision and performance evaluations
Ensure the department operates efficiently, ethically, and in compliance with applicable rules and professional standards
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience presenting cases before Immigration Courts
Demonstrated leadership ability managing attorneys and staff
Fluent bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (required)
Strong command of removal defense and litigation strategy
Excellent organizational, communication, and supervisory skills
Ability to take ownership of a department and exercise independent professional judgment
Compensation & Advancement
Salary range: $120,000 – $160,000, commensurate with experience
Partnership-track position for the right candidate
