Overview

Thornblade Club is located in the picturesque valleys and foothills on the eastside of Greenville, South Carolina, Thornblade Club is a private, full-service, family-oriented golf and country club ideally located within a few minutes of downtown Greenville and the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport. The centerpiece of Thornblade's wide array of recreational amenities, as well as the greater surrounding Thornblade community, is a Tom Fazio-designed golf course.

Nineteen-time Champions Tour winner (nine-time PGA Tour winner), Jay Haas, is a Founding Member and Honorary Director of Golf, and other PGA Champions, Lucas Glover and Bill Haas, make Thornblade their 'home' Club. Thornblade is the annual host Of BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX on the Korn Ferry Tour.

The Club also has an active golf program for all ages and skill levels, including active juniors, ladies' and men's programs. The junior program is considered one of the finest in South Carolina. The tennis and pool complex at Thornblade features an impressive complex of 11 lighted courts, seven of which are Har-Tru surfaced and the remainder all-weather hard courts. More than 150 players participate in nearly 20 competitive USTA league teams. The large pool area is adjacent to tennis and is a very active family-centric environment in the busy summer season. The "Blades" swim team is comprised of more than 150 swimmers most years and holds over 80 training and competitive events each season.

Club Facts:

•        Overall operating revenues for the most recent year were approximately $11M.

•        Full Golf initiation fee, at present, is $ 50,000 with annual dues in this category of $824 per month along with a $158 per month capital charge.

•        There are approximately 720 member families in all categories, with approximately 470 in the Full Golf category.

•        The Club is organized as a 501(c)(7) not for profit corporation.

•        Approximately 30,000 rounds of golf are played annually.

•        There are approximately 93 FT and 40 PT year-round employees, with that number reaching as high as 140 in total during the height of the summer season.

•        In recent years, the Club has made substantial improvements in its physical facilities.

Experience Required

•        PGA Class A Membership in good standing (required)

•        5+ years of progressive experience in private club golf operations

•        Recruit, hire, train, and develop the professional golf staff and all employees within the golf operation

•        Oversee golf instruction and player development programs for all member segments

•        Manage fiscal responsibilities for all golf areas, including planning, budgeting, monitoring, and corrective management

•        Proven leadership and team development skills

•        Strong background in tournament operations and instruction

•        Merchandising and retail management experience

•        Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

•    Exceptionally strong communication skills with staff and members, creating an open exchange environment to elevate the golf operations forward in a consistently positive, passionate manner

•     An accomplished PGA professional with a proven track record of providing premier services in a dynamic, exclusive membership environment with a strong PGA network to benefit the members of Thornblade Club

Essential Responsibilities

•        Direct and oversee all golf operations, including tee sheet management, tournaments, and daily play

•        A strong, accomplished PGA professional with a proven track record of providing premier services in a dynamic, exclusive membership environment.

•        A proven track record in teaching & coaching, player and program development, working with all levels of playing abilities and diverse skill levels to grow the game

•        Passion for developing/enhancing the junior golf program and increasing participation

•        A strong team leader focused on two-way communication with all team members

•        A highly visible and interactive individual committed to engaging members at every opportunity to develop high levels of member satisfaction.

•        Lead and mentor assistant professionals and golf staff

•        Develop and grow instructional programs for all ages and skill levels

•        Manage golf shop operations, merchandising, and inventory control

•        Cultivate strong relationships with members and guests

•        Coordinate club tournaments, member events, and outside outings

•        Maintain high standards of service and professionalism

•        Collaborate with the General Manager, Golf Course Superintendent, and club leadership
