Position Summary:
The College of Performing Arts and Social Sciences at Henderson State University invites applicants for an instructor or assistant professor position to begin August 2026. This is a 9-month faculty appointment with additional responsibility as Director of Field Education. The successful candidate will provide leadership and oversight for the BSW field education program, ensuring compliance with CSWE standards, maintaining strong relationships with community partners, and supporting students in their field placements. In addition, the faculty member will teach across the social work curriculum, engage in scholarly and professional activities, and participate in service at the department, college, university, and community levels. Teaching expertise should include a willingness to teach online and/or incorporate innovative technology-leveraged approaches to classroom instruction.
The Social Work Program at HSU is currently in pre-candidacy status with the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and is actively progressing toward initial accreditation.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Direct and coordinate all aspects of the field education program, including placement of students, training and support of field instructors, and monitoring of student progress.
- Teach undergraduate social work courses (including practice, field, or related areas, depending on expertise).
- Engage in scholarship appropriate to a tenure-track faculty role.
- Advise and mentor students in both academic and professional development.
- Contribute to departmental initiatives, accreditation activities, and service at multiple levels.
General Days/Hours:
Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- MSW from a CSWE-accredited program.
- At least two years of post-MSW professional social work practice experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate in social work or related field for tenure track (ABD considered).
- Experience in social work field education or supervision.
- College-level teaching experience.
- Experience with online instruction
Proposed Salary Range: $52,000 - $58,000
