- Challenge Course Specialist Overnight Summer Camp
Description
Girl Scouts San Diego is seeking Challenge Course Specialists who are passionate about adventure to help campers step out of their comfort zones, build confidence, and create unforgettable summer memories in a camp setting.
Where You’ll Work
Your summer “office” is amongst the oak trees at our overnight camp in Julian, CA. The camp features scenic lakes, swimming pool, miles of hiking trails, and a rustic outdoor environment. Staff and campers stay in cabins, platform tents, or under the stars fully immersed in the camp experience.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with planning, facilitation and operation of high and low ropes courses.
- Lead fun, safe challenge course and teambuilding experiences.
- Instruct campers on proper equipment use, safety practices, and emergency procedures.
- Encourage teamwork, confidence, and mutual support on ropes elements and climbing structures.
- Inspect equipment and complete course reports
- Ensure all activities meet required safety standards and protocols
- Support camp-wide programs and contribute positively to the camp community.

Requirements
What It Takes
- Must be at least 18 years old
- ACCT Level 1 certification or 2-3 years documented experience in climbing and /or challenge course facilitation.
- At least one season of camp or youth supervision experience, preferred
- Comfortable climbing and working at heights
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification
- Ability to live on camp property and work outdoors in varying temperatures
- Commitment to work June 8 - July 25, 2026
- Ability to adapt facilitation styles for campers age 7-17, prioritizing physical and emotional safety.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation
