Description
The General Surgery Program at New York Presbyterian Queens is a five-year ACGME-accredited Surgery Residency Program. We are recruiting a PGY-2 categorical resident. We are a Level 1 Trauma center located in Queens, NY with 21 operating rooms, including 3 dedicated DaVinci robots, a Hybrid OR with a Simulation Center. Residents cover a variety of services and get hands on experience in general surgery, minimally invasive surgery, breast surgery, surgical oncology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, endocrine, plastic and vascular surgery. Residents have successfully completed training and gone on to obtain competitive fellowships or enter practice and successfully pass their boards.
Eligibility requirement: Applicant must have completed an ACGME accredited general surgery residency program PGY-1 year by July 1, 2025 and be in good standing. Ideally, the applicant is a current PGY-2 in an accredited residency program and is available to transfer or start as soon as possible.
Qualified applicants must submit the following documents:
1. ERAS application or equivalent including: Current Curriculum Vitae (CV), Brief Personal Statement, Medical School diploma and transcript, Dean’s Letter (MSPE), USMLE Steps 1, 2 & 3 Reports, Three (3) Letters of Recommendations, including letter from most current program director
2. Rotation schedule from PGY-1, PGY-2
3. Current ACGME case log
4. ACGME Milestone summaries from PGY-1, PGY-2 (*if possible, though this will be required upon transfer if accepted into the position)
5. ABSITE Scores from PGY-1
6. Current ATLS, BLS, ACLS certifications
7. ECFMG Certificate (if applicable)

Requirements
Applicant must have completed an ACGME accredited general surgery residency program PGY-1 year by July 1, 2025 and if active as a PGY 2 resident, must be in good standing. Applicant must be available to start as soon as possible. Preliminary PGY 2 residents and categorical PGY 2 residents considering a transfer will be considered. Must be clinically active within the last 6 months.
