Description
Job Overview: The Camp Director, reporting to the Regional Director, will design programs, hire staff, manage budgets, and set standards of performance for the entire Oasis Day Camp Central Park. The goal of a Camp Director is to incorporate the Oasis Mission and Values into the camp environment while growing the community of Oasis campers and families. The Camp Director will ensure the health and safety of campers and staff through best-in-class programming with age-appropriate activities and events in an inclusive, safe, and engaging environment.
Job Description
Responsibilities
Safety & Trust
Collaborate with Oasis HQ and its partners to keep campers and employees safe
Collaborate with the Oasis Central Park Leadership Team to establish and deliver staff trainings
Maintain an active presence at camp prioritizing time with campers and staff vs in office
Inspirational Leadership
Create a leadership culture of mutual support and collaboration
Build strong, personal relationships with Oasis Central Park Leadership Team members
Establish a results-oriented culture of excellence for the Oasis Central Park Leadership Team
Keep team members accountable by setting clear goals, expectations, and responsibilities
Branding & Enrollments
Be the brand ambassador and the ultimate champion of Oasis Day Camp
Represent Oasis at school and community events
Communicate with families, staff, and prospects in the off-season
Coordinate and help facilitate correspondence to registered families prior to the start of camp
Respond to new parent leads and referrals to drive new enrollments
Conduct all tours and information sessions for families, perform follow-up and drive registrations
Review enrollment reports with the Oasis HQ Leadership Team
Lead and collaborate with the Oasis Central Park Leadership Team on retention efforts
Programming
Build a program that develops campers into twenty-first century leaders
Manage the Oasis Central Park Leadership Team
Review and feedback to understand the current culture and the traditions that resonate
Inject new all-camp traditions that align with values and draw new camper families
Work within and manage to the budget you are provided
Prepare the Leadership Team to develop and deliver a cohesive summer long adventure for the camps that is also age appropriate and varied for 3–15-year-olds in various groups.
“Create the magic”: Deliver a program that ‘comes to life’ with consistent execution across staff
Plan all on-site special guests and visitors (animal encounters, musical guests, quiz shows, etc.)
Establish and execute on traditions that campers are able to “unlock” as they progress at Oasis
People Operations
Lead summer staff recruitment and hiring, including sourcing candidates and interviewing
Onboard, develop, and retain a team with clearly defined roles and responsibilities
Deliver orientation with your leadership team for sta training prior to first day of camp
Champion Oasis staff training and impart our guidelines of safety and excellence with all staff
Work within the defined budget and be accountable for all salaries and spending
Champion and lead training for staff throughout the course of the summer
Lead staff recognition and awards ceremonies throughout the summer
Camp Operations
Use CampMinder (camp software programming) to take on enrollment, staffing and reporting
Build a relationship with your facilities manager and define roles and responsibilities
Learn the NYS and New York City Department of Health standards and requirements
Comply with Department of Health, including permits, training, and inspections
Review and update emergency response plans
Review inventory from previous summer and create a “wish list” for upcoming summer
Requirements
Who You Are:

A strong analytical decision-maker thru organized, structured, and detailed thinking
A strong people manager committed to high standards of performance
An outstanding communicator and able to build trust through empathy with staff and families
Strong relationship builder, which translates into camper enrollments

Dependable, enthusiastic, levelheaded and flexible
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Master’s Degree in Education preferred)
Minimum 5+ years’ experience working as a teacher or child/youth development
Experience in program and activity planning for children aged 3 to 15 years old
Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace productivity tools
CPR and First Aid certified or willing to obtain within 30 days of being hired and update annually
