- Fiscal Revenue Recognition Manager
Description
The Fiscal Revenue Recognition Manager leads the end-to-end billing and revenue functions within a healthcare environment, ensuring accurate billing, timely revenue recognition, and strong cash performance. This role partners closely with Finance, Accounting, Operations, and external stakeholders to align billing activity with revenue strategy, compliance requirements, and business growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee daily billing, revenue, andaccountsreceivable operations, ensuringaccurateclaim generation,timelysubmissions, proper revenue recognition, and efficient payment processing.
- Own revenue integrity across government-funded and commercialpayerprograms, including Medicare and Medicaid, ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, and payer-specific requirements.
- Develop and execute strategies to improve revenue performance, including reducing denials, minimizing revenue leakage, improving cash flow timing, and strengthening billing controls.
- Partner with Finance and Accounting to supportaccuraterevenue reporting, forecasting, and reconciliation activities, ensuring billing activity aligns with financial close processes.
- Establish standardized billing timelines, workflows, and controls to support predictable revenue cycles and minimize last-minute adjustments or delays.
- Oversee complex billing issues, payment variances, denials, and disputes, escalating and resolving issues that pose financial or compliance risk.
- Analyze billing and revenue data toidentifytrends, risks, and improvement opportunities; prepare and present insights and recommendations to leadership.
- Collaborate cross-functionallywith Operations, Customer Service, Sales, IT, and Compliance to align billing practices with operational realities and contractual obligations.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on billing systems and revenue processes, supporting system enhancements, upgrades, testing, and implementation efforts.
- Monitor regulatory changes, payer updates, and industry best practices to ensure billing and revenue processesremaincompliant and scalable.
- Lead, coach, and develop billing and revenue team members, promoting accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Represent the billing and revenue function in leadership discussions, audits, and external meetings as needed.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of healthcare billing, revenue cycle operations, and revenue recognition principles.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex, cross-functional workflows.
- Highly analytical with strong Excel skills and the ability to translate data into business insights.
- Effective communicator with confidencepresenting toleadership and influencing stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy, controls, and process improvement.
- Able to manage competing priorities and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, ora relatedfieldrequired.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in healthcare billing, revenue cycle management, or healthcare finance, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience managing billing and revenue functions for Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care payers.
- Track recordof improving revenue outcomes, billing accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Experience with healthcare billing and revenue systemsrequired.
