Description
Seeking a consumer bankruptcy attorney to join our established practice with a clear path to leadership and eventual transition of the firm. This role focuses exclusively on representing debtors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases. The ideal candidate will be client-focused and interested in long-term practice growth, with the opportunity to take over the firm upon the lead attorney's retirement.
This position offers a unique opportunity to step into a well-established consumer bankruptcy practice with an existing client base, systems, and community presence. The selected candidate will work directly with the lead attorney to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities, with the goal of assuming leadership of the practice upon retirement.
Qualifications:
JD from an accredited law school
Active license to practice law in NC
Strong knowledge of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 procedures for debtor representation
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to manage deadlines and multiple cases efficiently.
Requirements
Advise and counsel clients on consumer bankruptcy options, primarily Chapter 7/13.
Review bankruptcy petitions, schedules and statements.
Represent clients at 341 meetings of creditors and confirmation hearings.
Develop and propose Chapter 13 repayment plans.
Communicate effectively with trustee and office staff.
Ensure compliance with all federal and local bankruptcy rules and procedures.
Work closely with the lead attorney to transition client relationships and firm operations over time.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with bankruptcy software.
Familiarity with local bankruptcy court rules and trustees.
Strong client service orientation and empathy for individuals in financial distress.
Interest in long-term practice leadership or ownership.
