Assistant Camp Director – Residential Summer Camp (Summer 2025)
Camp: Blue Ridge Field Camp
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Position Type: Seasonal, Residential
Summer: 2025
Blue Ridge Field Camp is seeking an Assistant Camp Director to help lead and support our residential summer camp program in central Virginia. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced camp professional who is eager to be deeply involved in staff supervision, camper well-being, and the daily operations of a growing camp community.
This position works closely with the Camp Director and Program Director and is ideal for someone with prior residential camp experience who is ready for increased responsibility and leadership.
Responsibilities Include:
Assuming the duties of the Camp Director during their absence
Assisting with staff orientation, training, and in-service support
Supervising and mentoring counselor staff throughout the summer
Managing camper and staff conflicts calmly and effectively
Ensuring camper safety and well-being at all times
Supporting camp operations including logistics, equipment, and facilities
Participating fully in camp life, including overnights, hikes, swimming, and activities
Helping maintain a positive, professional, and community-centered camp culture
Qualifications:
At least 21 years of age by the start of camp
College graduate
Prior experience in a residential camp setting required
Prior supervisory or leadership experience required
Strong interpersonal skills and emotional maturity
Passion for working with children and adolescents
Comfortable living and working outdoors in a residential camp environment
Physically able to participate fully in camp programming
