About This Role
Reporting to the Associate Dean of Career and Transfer Pathways, the Associate Director leads efforts to integrate career and transfer readiness, and workforce alignment into the student experience, ensuring that all students, particularly those from historically underserved backgrounds, are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities needed to successfully transition to four-year institutions and meaningful careers. This role collaborates across Academic Affairs, Student Affairs and Enrollment, Institutional Research and Planning, and external partners. The Associate Director leverages data, technology, and national best practices to scale high-impact practices such as career exploration, work-based learning, and seamless transfer pathways.
The position is primarily based on the Journal Square Campus, but the Associate Director will remain flexible in the work location and hours.
What Youll Do
Principal Responsibilities:
Data, Assessment and Reporting
- Partner with the Office of Institutional Research and Planning to develop dashboards and reports that inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Assess the impact of career and transfer strategies through data collection and analysis, recommending and implementing enhancements as needed.
- Collaborate with the Senior Assistant Director to conduct surveys, assess results, and prepare annual reports.
Operations and Campus Leadership
- Provide leadership for administering and delivering Career and Transfer services at the North Hudson Campus.
- Supervise career and transfer team members, managing daily operations, project execution, and staff performance through ongoing feedback and evaluations.
- Oversee federal work-study operations, including scheduling, training, and supervision of student employees.
- Assist the Associate Dean with budget development, management, and departmental operations.
Technology and Communications
- Administer and support career services platforms, including Handshake (student-facing and backend), EAB Navigate360, and Career Coach platforms.
- Ensure systems such as career coaching tools, engagement platforms, and surveys are effectively implemented and utilized.
- Monitor, update, and maintain the office website, portal, and social media presence.
- Develop and execute communication and marketing strategies for prospective, current, and graduating students related to career and transfer pathways.
- Ensure alignment of messaging across digital platforms, campaigns, and student outreach efforts.
Student Success and Programming
- Ensure career and transfer services are accessible, student-centered, and responsive to the needs of a diverse student population.
- Support student engagement efforts, including serving as co-lead for the student engagement subgroup for our best practice transfer initiatives such as the CONNECT program.
- Participate in workshops, meetings, and conferences to gain and share best practices.
- Stay informed on emerging trends in career services, workforce development, and technology to enhance service delivery.
- Support cross-functional initiatives and institutional priorities as needed.
Employer, Transfer and Campus Partnerships
- Support Associate Dean in strengthening strategic partnerships with employers and four-year institutions.
- Collaborate with industry and academic partners to align programs with workforce needs and transfer requirements.
- Maintain effective relationships with deans, associate deans, faculty, staff, and community partners to advance departmental goals and collaborate across departments to support programs, resources, and services that enhance student success.

What Youll Need
Education and Experience
- Masters degree in higher education administration, student affairs, counseling, or related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive professional experience in career services, transfer services, academic advising, or a related area in higher education.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising professional staff or leading teams and initiatives.
- Proficiency in using data analysis tools and software to assess program effectiveness and outcomes.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing employer partnerships and work-based learning programs.
- Familiarity with transfer articulation agreements and partnership development with four-year institutions.
- Experience working with career services or student engagement technology platforms (e.g., Handshake, Colleague/Ellucian, EAB Navigate360 or similar systems).
- Demonstrated success supporting first-generation, adult, and historically underserved student populations.
- Experience scaling programs or services across multiple campuses or locations.
- Proficiency in using social media platforms and digital marketing tools for outreach and communication.
- Experience in budget development, management, and fiscal responsibility.
