OverviewOverview
We are seeking a Golf Professional who is committed to continuing their professional development within a high-level, hospitality focused golf operation. This role is designed for an Assistant who is ready to take on increased responsibility while working closely with a seasoned professional staff. S/He will support the Head Professional in delivering exceptional member-centric service while promoting a positive, interactive, and team-oriented atmosphere.
Thornblade Club was founded by Jay Haas and Champ Covington in 1988. Thornblade Club is now widely regarded as the premier golf and country club in South Carolina's Upstate. Spanning more than 130 acres, amenities include an 18-hole golf course designed by Tom Fazio, nine tennis courts, six pickleball courts, a competition size swimming pool, casual and elegant restaurant dining, social events, meeting facilities, and full-service banquet and event facilities. Thornblade is best known for its 15 years as host of the Korn Ferry Tour's BMW Charity Pro-Am as well as the home to the SCJGA Blade Junior Golf Classic.
Experience Required
- PGA Associate or PGA Class A Member in good standing
- Preferred minimum of two years' experience in an upscale private club operation
- Working knowledge of Golf Genius (Golf Shop and Tournament)
- Experience with ForeTees tee time and POS systems
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Enthusiasm and passion for the game of golf
- Ability to work well with a team

Essential Responsibilities
Servant's Heart: Provide excellent service to the club's members and guests, ensuring a welcoming and enjoyable experience.
Member Engagement: Proactively handle member engagements, addressing their needs and concerns efficiently.
Tournament Operations: Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in tournament operations, including the use of Golf Genius software and proficient in the World Handicap System.
System Management: Manage Fore Tees tee time and POS systems effectively to ensure smooth daily operations.
Team Support: Assist the Head Professionals in fostering a positive and interactive team environment.
Collaboration: Develop and enhance relationships with all department heads to gain a comprehensive understanding of the entire club operation.
Merchandise Management: Support the merchandise manager with all aspects of the retail experience, including inventory management and sales.
Player Development: Provide golf instruction in collaboration with the professional staff to members of all skill levels.
Activity Promotion: Promote all club activities and events to enhance member participation and engagement.
Club and Golf Rules: Maintain a working knowledge of the club's rules and the Rules of Golf, ensuring adherence by all members and guests.
Member Interaction: Demonstrate a desire to play golf with the membership, building rapport and fostering a sense of community.
