Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant General Manager for Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club helps the General Manager to ensure day to day operations run smoothly by helping implementing policies, managing the team and directing finances in order to fulfill the mission of the Club.

Experience Required

• 3+ years' experience in the Club industry
• PGA and/or CMAA member preferred but not required
• Four-year college degree in business and/or hospitality related
• Must have supervisory, coaching and staff development experience
• Must have experience in total club facility management and demonstrated ability to run a professional, efficient, high quality, service-oriented operation
• Must be proficient in Excel, Access, Word, POS systems
• Working knowledge of club accounting
• Must have a strong business aptitude and passion for the club business
• Experience acting as a club liaison to the community
• Must have exceptional customer service skills
• Must be highly motivated, goal driven and self-starter
• Must be extremely organized, efficient and detail-oriented
• Must possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Highly polished interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with people easily and quickly
• Must have skill to exercise good independent judgment in assessing situations and making decisions

Essential Responsibilities

• Cooperating with the General Manager and assisting with project planning, staff management, operational policies, budget, golf committees, etc.
• Assist in the development of the Club's long range and annual business plans including organizational changes.
• Assist with hiring, orienting, and training the entire club staff, provide these functions personally with direct reports, and ensure that the appropriate supervisor is trained and has provided the function for all indirect reports.
• Assist with overseeing all operations to ensure that the highest possible service is provided to patrons at the most efficient cost.
• Work with the General Manager to ensure that the golf course, clubhouse, grounds, equipment, and all other facets of the physical plant are properly maintained, ensuring the finest appearance of the facility and extending the life of all fixed assets.
• Become familiar with all performance reports to the Home Office and thoroughly understand all material financial activity.
• Assist with reviewing variances in excess of predefined tolerances during the monthly reporting process; working with supervisors for the accountable performance of their department.
• Work with the General Manager to establish an annual calendar of meaningful membership functions (both golf and social).
• Establish a presence in the community of the club and HGG, maintaining high visibility at social, business, and political gatherings.
• Responsible for the execution of special projects as directed from the GM
• Assist with the planning and implementation of budgets for all departments
• Nurture positive working relationships with staff
• Address any issues in a timely fashion
• Help develop and evaluate team training programs and personnel policies
• Ensure the highest standards for Club services resulting in a high level of member satisfaction
• Assist with the care and maintenance of all Club's physical assets and facilities
• Perform General Manager duties in his absence
